Congratulations to Martin Stamper on winning the Gold Medal in the Spanish Open on Saturday!
Martin, part of the GB Taekwondo Team, smashed his opponents with impressive wins throughout the tournament and ended with beating his Russian rival, Vladimir Kim 2-0 to claim victory.
After the win, Martin commented:
“I didn’t put any expectations on myself fighting here as we are in a heavy faze of training in preparation for the World Championships (Mexico, July 2013).
“But I am really happy with my performance. I had five tough fights against some quality opponents and felt pretty comfortable in each fight.
“I feel my game has improved so much on the Daedo scoring system and that is down to hard but clever work in training. “I can now carry on my preparation for the Worlds and go in full of confidence hoping to better my bronze of two years ago.”
It was gold galore for Team GB as Martin’s team mate Bianca Walkden also came out victorious! This is Martin’s second Gold of 2013, after winning the German Open in March! Congratulations to Martin, Bianca and everyone competing.
