Changing lives through Adventure Travel

We have been supplying filtered water bottles to 3185 Adventures for 2 years to help them with their charity expeditions. Now the team are going a step further and doing something truly remarkable.

We first got talking to the team before one of their expeditions to canoe the Yukon River in Canada. One of their biggest problems was carrying drinking water on the long trip with such little space. Drinking straight the river is ideal on a canoeing trip but in North America and Canada the dreaded ‘Beaver Fever’ aka Giardia (a parasite that infects the intestines of humans causing diarrhoea and vomiting) is everywhere. Luckily for them; Water-to-Go filters Giardia with ease. Since then the team have made Water-to-Go bottles a permanent part of their kit to keep them safe and ensure lightweight hydration on their adventures.

Now 3185 Adventures are developing an outward-bound centre for disadvantaged children, young adults and disabled people. The team have recently met with the ‘Make A Wish Foundation’ and are working with them to make this centre the leading one of its kind.

Founder Nick Hunter had an idea when his father passed away that he wanted to open a wilderness retreat for families that have suffered loss. That idea has evolved to make it accessible to all. They will be encouraging disadvantaged children, young adults, and people who suffer disabilities to come and experience this facility. The team strongly believe that everyone can, and should be, involved in outdoor pursuits in one form or another.

We caught up with Darryl from 3185 adventures:

613 Blonde Human Hair WigsNo matter what your personal thoughts on your limitations may be, we know that by being in the right environment, surrounded by the right people, you will be amazed in what you can achieve. The positivity, energy and healing power nature has to offer is incredible. This centre will drastically improve the lives of all who use it. Whether you’re an experienced adventurer or a first time camper, this facility and site will offer you everything to suit your abilities. The centre will be based in The Rocky Mountains in Canada and open all year round.

Every penny we made from all of this year’s trips has been ploughed into purchasing a site for the centre. We will still be offering guided treks, wilderness camping holidays and of course will still be involved in charity expeditions. All money raised will go directly towards the construction of the centre.”

The team are also crowdfunding to help fund part of the centre. Check out the link below and watch the heart-warming video from Managing Director, Nick.
